Summer Vacation
I really look forward to summer for a few reasons. Most often it is the opportunity to get away and enjoy the outdoors...fishing, canoeing, hiking. But, I was thinking today about church attendance. Do people look forward to summer to even get a break from church? Could it be possible that the "things" that we get so involved in and that eat up our time has a good dose of Christianity in there? Are we so busy that people can't wait to relax? What do you think?

I think it's in our mindset of what constitutes "church." You show it a tad in your post, "church attendance," "break from church."
Church isn't something we attend or stop. We ARE the church, whether we attend a meeting on Sunday or not. The problem in our culture is we've relegated it to another activity, another meeting, another obligation. And in the American church there's an unspoken attitude out there that Good Christians Must Serve the Sunday Service.
When we quit seeing Church as a building or a meeting or an activity and start seeing it as what we ARE, I think we'll see a big change. I think we'll quit insisting Christians tire themselves with the extensions we've attached to "church involvement" and make it back into the Body of Christ.
...and so that is exactly my thought. People think they are getting a break from "church" when in fact they can't take a break from themselves. More of "being" and not of "doing". People get so hung up on church attendance that I wonder if they have ever considered measuring results in a different way.
Unfortunately, probably not :o(
